A WORD FROM THE HEADMASTER
Dear Parents:
The 2004/2005 school year will
be successful if you(as parents) and the faculty and staff (as in-loco parentis) work as a team. The following, along with other approaches, will be very important:
-
Give
our children the necessary and proper examples to emulate.
-
Understand
success is determined not so much by circumstances or abilities as by attitude.
-
A
student is not finished when they are defeated; they are finished when they quit!
One of the greatest lesson we
can teach our children is to compete, to the best of their ability, at all times. The
world our children will enter is more competitive than ever. We look forward
to working with you and your child/children.
Respectfully,
John D. Rogers, Jr.

MISSION STATEMENT
The Board, Administration and
Faculty of Thomas Heyward Academy believe learning can be rewarding and exciting, but not without effort. Students acquiring
skills, concepts and information necessary to master a course must put forth effort.
Our goal is not to entertain children: parents can do so far more cheaply than sending them to Thomas Heyward Academy.
The philosophy
of Thomas Heyward Academy is in accord with the conservative belief that no learning takes place without hard work. The Academy’s primary mission is to educate students in the basic skills. We cannot guarantee each student a quality education, only the opportunity to reach this goal through hard
work, discipline and dedication.
